Afterglow: Dragon Fire, Defense Qi and Immunological Maps Z’ev Rosenberg, LAc
Z’ev has lectured widely both to the public and to students of both Chinese medicine and macrobiotics over the last thirty-five years. For twenty-three years, he served as Chair of the Department of Herbal Medicine at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, from which he retired in 2013. At present, Z’ev maintains a private practice in herbal medicine and acupuncture / moxibustion with a specialty in chronic autoimmune disorders. He terms what he practices as ‘full-strength Chinese medicine’, designed to manage and treat difficult conditions. He also directs the Alembic Institute, where he teaches advanced seminars in medical classics, pulse diagnosis, and treatment of autoimmune disorders. He is a senior researcher at Xinglin Institute for the Study of Early East Asian Medicine.

In this course, Z’ev will explore and expound on one of the most fundamental yet misunderstood concepts in Chinese Medicine; Ministerial Fire. Critical errors are often made by neglecting the physiology and pathology of this traveling Fire which is so critical to the body’s proper and proportionate response to environmental factors, challenges and threats.
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe the concept of Ministerial Fire, as it is represented in the Neijing Suwen and other Classics
- Identify how later authors described the physiology and pathology of Ministerial Fire
- Describe the physiology of Ministerial Fire as it relates to Five Phases and Six-Conformation theory
- Describe how Ministerial Fire pathology relates to specific manifestations seen in the lines of the Shanghan Zabing Lun Describe how pathology of the Ministerial Fire could lead to manifestations seen in many modern diseases
- List formulas that treat specific pathological states of Ministerial Fire
