The “East to West” (衷中参西) overseas social practice team from the School of Medicine and School of Pharmacy at Tsinghua University (清华大学), consisting of nine students, visited our campus as part of their research on the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) abroad.
The students were warmly welcomed by our English class students and had the opportunity to participate in our Taiji class. During their visit, they explored our classrooms, library, and teaching clinic. They were particularly impressed by the diversity of our student body, the dedication of our students, and the friendly atmosphere on campus. Some expressed interest in further exploring the development of TCM outside of China. One sophomore student even shared that he has already begun his self-study journey in TCM.
A special thanks to Professor Daniel Fields, Jessica Park, and the students who engaged in meaningful discussions and informal interviews with the visiting students. Bridging East and West has always been a core mission of our school—not only in medicine but also in cultural exchange.
We look forward to the report they will share with us regarding the development of TCM (acupuncture) colleges, medical institutions, and private clinics in the United States, and how it compares to TCM’s development in China. We are excited to share their insights with our school community and beyond.
