This one-day course is the second in a two-part series exploring the classical foundations and clinical applications of Chinese herbal medicine, with a focus on the Shanghan Lun (Treatise on Cold Damage) and Liu Jing (Six-Conformation) theory.
Participants will explore the classical understanding of the Six Conformations—Taiyang, Yangming, Shaoyang, Taiyin, Shaoyin, and Jueyin—and their relationship to the Six Qi, Yin-Yang theory, and the physiological processes of the body. Drawing upon the Huangdi Neijing and Shanghan Lun, the course examines how these principles provide a systematic framework for pattern differentiation and herbal treatment.
Emphasizing the clinical application of Liu Jing theory, participants will learn how characteristic signs, symptoms, and pulse qualities guide the identification of disease patterns and the selection of appropriate classical herbal formulas.Through lecture, discussion, and clinical examples, participants will deepen their understanding of the relationship between classical theory, diagnosis, and herbal prescribing.
While this intermediate-level course builds upon a foundational understanding of Liu Jing (Six-Conformation) theory, participation in Part 1 of the series is not required. An introduction and review of essential concepts will be provided to ensure that participants who did not attend the first course can fully engage with the material.
