Battlefield Acupuncture is an Auricular Therapy (Ear acupuncture) protocol that was invented by Dr. Richard Niemtzow MD in 2001. The protocol uses up to 5 specific points on each ear and employs a specific type of auriculotherapy needle. It is used to treat all types of pain. It was so effective in the military that it was taught to civilians to use for non-military patients.

This course will emphasize a clinical approach to diagnosis that will steer the students towards specific treatments for soft tissue issues involving syndromes of the buttock, hip, thigh and knee. The methods involved will include orthopedic, neurological and manual muscle testing of the relevant joints and muscles, always with the goal of ruling out red flag conditions that require prompt referral, and then diagnosing precisely.

A Continuation of Classical Chinese Physiology (7.5 CAB Cat1 CEUs)

In this class, students will learn to consider human physiology and pathology through the lens of relational qualities and cyclical movements of wu xing and liu jing. Building upon the foundations established in Introduction to Classical Chinese Physiology, this course offers a deeper exploration of these classical concepts and their application to understanding health, disease, and clinical practice. Teaching methods include pre-readings, lectures, discussion, handouts, slides, hands-on demonstrations, and out-of-class assignments.

Shanghan Lun: Formula Presentations IV (15 CAB Cat1 CEUs)

In this course, students will continue to explore formula families, this time covering the Gan jiang, Fu zi, and Huang qin/Huang lian formula families. The focus will be on herb patterns (yao zheng) and formula patterns (fang zheng), including such aspects as classical lines, suitable patients, suitable diseases, and formula pattern differentiation. We will also read and analyze relevant case studies.
