The practice of Taiji Quan functions as a bridge to good meditation. In turn, Qi Gong leads to a dynamic understanding of traditional Chinese medicine through the unification of mind, breath and action.

The Academy hosts single Tui Na, Taiji, and Qi Gong courses that are open to the public. There are no special enrollment prerequisites for Taiji and Qi Gong classes. To inquire about current classes, please call (510-763-7787) and ask for admissions. Or e-mail admissions@acchs.edu.

You’ll learn relatively simple exercises, motions that highlight key Taiji principles and that lay the foundations for a lifelong vitality-enhancing experience. Taught in a friendly, supportive environment, the class is perfect for day to day stress! It includes a 5 element Qi Gong set, a Taiji sequence, meditation, and lots of fun exploratory movement.

Most Recent Schedule (all courses)

The student learns several foundational stretches, basic ways of meditation and Qi Gong exercises, and the basic postures of the traditional short Taiji form. The class covers the daily practice of Taiji Quan and Qi Gong, strengthens and harmonizes the body, which enables the student to learn the energy channels of the body firsthand.

In Taiji Quan, students learn the concept of three into one: “mind, breath, action” and its integral role in their personal lives and professional progress. By practicing Taiji Quan, students learn that simple, graceful, moving meditation takes motivation, dedication, perseverance and sensitivity. Development of these character traits through meditative practice helps students to sustain the rigorous academic program and develop the perception necessary to practice an energetic form of medicine.

Tui Na
Tui Na promotes and re-establishes health, and it restores injured tissues. Some treatment protocols require major Tui Na focus to attack the root of the pain, move blood stasis, and fight off disease. Tui Na practitioners seek to treat, not massage; because Tui Na is beyond producing just a relaxed result as in a regular massage session.

The Academy offers a 500-hour and 250-hour Tui Na Massage Therapy Certificate Program. This special program focuses on the integration of Western massage and Oriental Acupressure therapies and techniques. The Academy wants to encourage the use of alternative medicine to inspire pharmaceutical-free health awareness.

We encourage persons who are interested in traditional Chinese Medicine to discover the benefits of Tui Na, Taiji Quan, and Qi Gong. Through breathing and exercise, an individual can strengthen and heal his/her body, mind, and spirit. Taiji and Qi Gong classes are given several times a year. If you are interested in enrolling for these fifteen week classes, please contact an admissions administrator; admissions@acchs.edu; (510) 763-7787. We encourage you to visit our facility and learn more about our special courses.
