Completed Bicycle Parking
Since 1999, Oakland’s CityRacks Bicycle Parking Program has installed almost 2,250 bicycle parking racks and lockers for more than 5,000 bicycles in commercial districts throughout the City.
Together with other agencies, particularly BART, there are over 8,150 publicly accessible bike parking spaces in Oakland. Racks and lockers have been funded by the Transportation Fund for Clean Air, Alameda County Congestion Management Agency, TDA Article 3 bike/ped funds and Alameda County’s Measure B½-cent sales tax for transportation.
• Downtown Bicycle eLockers
• Bike Stations (Fruitvale & 19th St BART Stations)
• New racks installed to replace old meter poles
Downtown Bicycle eLockers
Twenty (20) electronic bike lockers (“eLockers”) are available for use by the public in downtown, and are situated to serve patrons of Oakland’s two downtown BART stations.
• 12th Street Station in Frank Ogawa Plaza at the northwest corner of Broadway and 14th Street; 12 lockers
• The 19th St BART / Uptown Bike Station is located at 1775 Broadway at the southwest corner of 19th St, and it open Monday-Friday, 7am-9pm. It has spaces for 130 bicycles.
• (There are two other BART-serving Bike Stations currently under development to serve the MacArthur and Rockridge BART Stations.)
Cost: Renting an Oakland eLocker costs five cents an hour, and the first five hours of each rental are free. That means an eight-hour rental costs just 15 cents and many rentals will cost nothing at all.
