ACCHS location Map

Is there an airport in Oakland?

Yes there is an airport in Oakland. Check both airports (OAK; SFO) to see which flights will be the best to fit your needs. To  reach Oakland downtown from the airport, lodging, and ACCHS it is easy trip on the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit – http://www.bart.gov/guide/airport/inbound_oak ). ACCHS is located close to the 19th Street BART station.

From SFO to downtown Oakland it is about a 45 min BART ride.

.How far is lodging from ACCHS (1600 Broadway, Oakland, CA 94612)?

The best option for lodging that we and past participants have found is through www.AirBnB.com. AirBnB is site that links guests with approved hosts.  They allow you to search within your price range and individual needs.

The Marriot downtown is located at 1001 Broadway, Oakland; A Courtyard Marriott is located at 988 Broadway. Both are about a 15 minute walk to ACCHS.

Oakland has a great public transport system and lodgings in the downtown area are easily accessible.  Budget lodging close to ACCHS and downtown is The Inn in Jack London Square : http://www.jacklondoninnoakland.com/ a free shuttle runs from Jack London Square to the school every 15 min.

Once in Oakland how do I get around?

Oakland has a robust public transportation with AC Transit for busses (2.10 per ride) and BART (to and from SF/Oakland/Berkeley; cost varies on distance).  Oakland is also a very walkable city with great art deco buildings, historic Lake Merritt, and vibrant local communities.
